It all began with a passion for snowboarding combined with
the goal to create and ride the best jumps and half pipes in the world.
Ryan Neptune, owner of Planet and Neptune Industries,
began snowboarding in 1984, when snowboards only came in one size.
He had asked for a snowboard for Christmas that year, and it wasn't hard for his parents
to make their selection — there was only one type available.
From that day on, if there was snow in the mountains, Ryan was out riding,
building jumps, making half pipes, and racing.
In high school, Ryan began creating tools to help perfect his jumps and half pipes.
Soon word got out about Ryan's snow rakes and shovels, and mountain resorts began
asking to buy his specialty snow tools.
After Ryan began racing professionally in boardercross, he designed the
BXT Gate, a racing gate that redefined boardercross and ski racing by making the start more precise
and safe. Shortly after that the Planet line grew to include all varieties of custom rail slides,
picnic tables, fun boxes, mountain resort tools, and more.
At about the same time, Ryan teamed up with Pat Malendoski, owner of
Planet Snow Designs.
Together they plowed new ground in competition course and snow park design,
carving a reputation for technically challenging and perfectly groomed courses
and snow parks.
From there Planet quickly evolved into the premier source
for snow tools, snow park equipment, and snow park design.
Today Planet designs, constructs, and supplies equipment for all the major snowboarding
venues and parks worldwide. All of Planet's products are designed and manufactured in Boise,
Idaho by Neptune Industries, Ryan's metal fabrication company.
